The 2022 Kelly Walsh High School “Trojan Marching Band” Show is

PANDORA’S LAMENT

Pandora’s Lament is a dark production that features an exotic and mysterious soundtrack based on the mythology of Pandora. The opening of Pandora’s box released chaos into the world with the culmination of this show focusing on Pandora’s sorrow as she realizes that her temptation has released evil into the world. This lamentation is highlighted in Mvt 2 with an expressive and engaging moment for the winds to shine. 

The closer’s finale brings tensions to a climax as Pandora and the band attempt to get the evil spirits back into the box. The tables turn however and both Pandora and the band fall victim to the evil spirits, with several options available to create an ominous surprise ending! PANDORA’S LAMENT is written and released by Box 6 Productions.  Drill for the show is written by Dr. William Woodworth.

 

The 2021 Kelly Walsh High School “Trojan Marching Band” Show is

ANOMALY

 Within the confines of a strictly organized system, an unexplained anomaly appears in the central core. Strikingly different in its freedom and elasticity, the anomaly begins replicating itself throughout the ensemble. This new entity spreads like wildfire and divides the two sides to battle each other in a machine vs. anomaly showdown. With the anomaly taking over completely, the show changes drastically into an expressive & flowing production that highlights the drastic shift to the anomaly’s characteristics. All drill is abandoned and we explore a polar opposite approach to musicianship and movement compared to the opener. Multiple soloists will be featured throughout to highlight the individual qualities of the anomaly.

       At this point the anomaly is now the new “normal,” and we see that the machine suddenly resurfaces as a new anomaly within the system. There’s an interesting correlation to this and how we perceive trends or fads that come and go, whatever is old becomes new again, etc. The production ends with the entire ensemble returning back to the machine-state existence of the beginning.  Possibly recreating the opposite version of the ripple that took over the machines in the first place. Strength and Honor is a powerful show bringing audiences back to the days of the Gladiator, the thrill of victory, the pain in defeat, and the energy involved in the fight.  Featuring a powerful percussion feature in the 3rd movement, a sousaphone feature in the 1st movement, and a powerful ballad in the 2nd movement… Strength and Honor is written and released by Box 6 Productions.  Drill for the show is Written by Dr. William Woodworth.

The 2018-2019 Kelly Walsh High School “Trojan Marching Band” Show is

INTO THE COSMOS

   Interweaving music inspired by Holst’s Planets, Radio Head, Tron and a variety of other interstellar type music creates a fantastic palette of colors and sounds specifically designed to be performed for a younger ensemble. Smart/simple voicing’s, range considerations, and technical demand factor heavily in the scoring process to ensure the smaller ensemble will sound full and create the wonderful character required of this type of music. Conceptually, the show is meant to take you on a journey through space and remind the audience of the wonders of space and how small we really are in this universe. The show seeks to reignite our fascination with the unknown and explore the wonderful sounds that we have come to recognize as the soundtrack to the cosmos.
